FSu came out strong again in the second quarter and took a 30-24 lead after Seavar Sigurmundsson dropped in two free throws. FSu went on to gain another six point lead at the 4:10 mark when Tyler Dunaway hit a long distance shot to push the lead to 37-31. Keflavik, who was led by Hordur Vilhjalmsson with 29 points, made a strong run to end the half and brought the score to 39-37 when the two teams headed to the locker rooms. FSu was playing some of its best basketball of the year and looked like they were going to carry their momentum into the second half. That proved not to be the case when FSu started the quarter 0-6 from the field along with three turnovers. Keflavik capitalized by going on a 14-0 run to begin the third quarter and took a commanding 39-51 lead. FSu didn't score until the 4:53 mark on a three point shot by Sveinsson. During the third quarter Vilhjalmsson had nine points, mostly from fast break buckets off of FSu turnovers. Keflavik led 63-50 at the end of the third. Keflavik gained its largest lead of the game early in the fourth quarter when Vilhjalmsson hit a three pointer to push the lead to 74-55 with 6:57 left in the game. FSu, whose offense was suffering tremendously, fought hard to stay in the game but could never get closer than thirteen points. The 14-0 run in the first six minutes of the second half proved to be the dagger in the heart for Fsu. The game ended with a final score of 81-68. Keflavik had two other players in double figures besides Vilhjalmsson. Gunnar Einarsson had 16 points and Sigurdur Thorsteinsson tallied in 11 for the game. FSu had four of their five starters in double figures with Sveinsson and Sigurmundsson both adding 14 and Ragnarsson and Dunaway contributing 12 points each. FSu will have to wait until next week to get back on the winning track when they travel to Breidablik on February 25th. |

The game started out with FSu on fire, hitting five of their first six shots. Vesteinn Sveinsson's three-point field goal at the 6:49 mark in the first quarter gave FSu a 12 to 7 lead. Within the next minute, FSu had its biggest lead of the game at 18-9 with a turnover by Jon Hafsteinsson and a layup on the other end by Arni Ragnarsson. Keflavik finished the quarter on a 9-2 run to tie the game until Hilmar Gudjonsson nailed a 25 foot buzzer beater to give FSu a 24-21 lead at the end of the first quarter.
