FSu Defeats Breidablik 96-77

TylerFSu took on Breiðablik this Friday in a must win situation for the team from Selfoss. Breiðablik, who holds the seventh spot in the rankings, is only two points ahead of FSu. With a win, FSu could move up in the rankings. FSu proved they could step up to the challenge when they came out in a fury and took a commanding 25-18 lead at the end of the first quarter.

FSu kept their foot on the pedal in the second quarter and went it to halftime up 52-33. FSu was playing its best basketball of the season and did a good job of getting everyone involved. FSu was led in the first half by Tyler Dunaway who had 11 points at the break.

 

Breiðablik came out strong in the third quarter and got within ten points twice in the third quarter but FSu held a close grip on the lead. Seavar Sigurmundsson was the beneficiary of Breiðablik's full court, scoring six unanswered and going four of five from the free throw line. At the end of the third quarter FSu led 75-55.

The fourth quarter was a test for Fsu. Breiðablik tried to fight back early but Fsu did a great job of holding on to their commanding lead and went on to win the game 96-77.

FSu had a well balanced scoring attack that produced five players in double figures. Dunaway led the way with 21 points and was followed by Sigurmundsson and Chris Caird with 17 points. Vesteinn Sveinsson also finished in double figures with 14 points.

Breiðablik was led by Nemanja Sovic who finished with a game high 27 points and 13 rebounds. Runar Erlingsson also tallied in 16 points.

FSu will take on Snæfell next week at home.
