Halfway through the third quarter Snaefell took its largest lead of the game 39-51 on a jump shot by Lucious Wagner. FSu took a timeout hoping to stop the scoring surge and regroup and that is exactly what they did. They fought back hard and went on a 7-0 run capped off by a 3 point shot by Tyler Dunaway to bring the score to 46-51. At the end of the third quarter Snaefell led 57-51. FSu came out strong in the fourth quarter with a quick 5-0 run to bring the score to 56-57 with nine minutes to go. Snaefell answered with a 6-0 run of their own. The score went back and forth for the rest of the game and was all tied with 2:18 left. After a block by Arni Ragnarsson, Bjorgvin Valentinusson dished the ball to Sveinsson who finished with a layup to give FSu a 67-65 lead with 1:38 to go. On the next possession Wagner drove to the hole and was fouled by Valentinusson and sent to the line where he made 1 of 2 to bring the score to 67-66. After a FSu turnover and a missed shot by Wagner, the ball bounced out of bounds with possession to Snaefell. Snaefell called a timout with 3 seconds to go and tried to set up a play under the basket. The ball was inbounded to Subasic on the baseline where he shot faked and drove to the basket and dished the ball to a wide open Sigurdur Thorvaldsson who layed the ball in as time expired. FSu players and fans were all shocked and at a loss of words. After a great comeback, FSu felt the upset they had been hoping for slip right through their hands. FSu was led by Sigurmundsson who finished with a game high 22 points and 15 rebounds. Sveinsson finished with 19 and Dunaway added 10. FSu will look to bounce back from this heart breaker Sunday when they take on IR.
